Club Esportiu Europa is much more than just a football club: it is 100% owned by its members and has become a symbol of grassroots and community football — in Gràcia and beyond. It was a founding member of the Spanish league La Liga in 1929 and a Copa del Rey finalist in 1923.Moreover, Europa is committed to non-discrimination, being the first club in the Spanish state to declare itself anti-sexist, anti-racist, anti-fascist, anti-homophobia, and anti-bullying.
With no shareholders or investors, Europa has grown while staying true to its core values: internal democracy and sustainability. And this commitment has taken us far: the women’s team now plays in the Second Division, and the men’s team in the Primera RFEF.
This success, however, comes at a cost: professional player salaries, travel expenses, facility improvements, youth development, and social projects. And we want to meet these challenges the way we always have — collectively, without compromising our model.
That’s why we’re launching this crowdfunding campaign: to cover the costs of the 2025–26 season and strengthen the club’s self-financing model. We invite members, neighbours of Gràcia, and supporters of grassroots football from all over the world to help make it happen.
Let’s join forces for a kind of sport that puts people, equality, and the local community at the centre.
Main features and goals of the crowdfunding campaign
Why is Europa a unique project?
• Collective ownership
We are a club 100% owned by our members — every membership card comes with a voice and a vote. This guarantees a democratic and participatory structure.
• Socially rooted football
We combine sporting growth with strong values. We work from the grassroots up, collaborate with local organizations, and build community in Gràcia.
• A benchmark in women’s football
Our women’s first team plays in the Primera RFEF (second division) — one of the few to do so under a fan-owned model.
• True financial sustainability
We don’t depend on investors or corporations. We’re sustained by membership fees, ticket sales, ethical sponsorships — and now, your support.
What do we want to achieve with this campaign?
- Secure the club’s basic expenses for the 2025–26 season.
- Improve the working conditions of both the women’s and men’s squads.
- Strengthen our youth academy and educational programs based on values.
- Invest in Nou Sardenya: infrastructure and service upgrades for our supporters.
- Create a reserve fund to ensure organic, self-sustaining growth.
- Expand the grassroots football model of Gràcia beyond our borders.
Why this is important
This crowdfunding campaign is born from two clear reasons:
1 – Because growth comes at a cost
Moving up and competing in national leagues means more travel, stricter federation requirements, and greater professional demands.
And that shows in the budget.
2 – Because we won’t sell our soul
We could turn to external investors, but we choose to remain true to our values: internal democracy, social commitment, and collective response.

Who are we reaching out to?
To everyone who sees football as a tool for social transformation:
• To our members, already actively shaping the project.
• To our Gràcia neighbours, who know Europa is more than football — it’s culture, community, and identity.
• To the international grassroots football community, which supports associative, egalitarian, and sustainable models.
• To fans everywhere who seek a club with values, collective ownership, and working-class pride.
With this campaign, we aim to build solidarity among people who love football, believe in direct participation, and defend a sport that truly is by and for the people.
