General information

We are now entering LaNuestra's launch phase!

We started to build LaNuestra with a collective pool of capital. In the first phase, we launched a GOTEO campaign where 4,500 women contributed over €150,000. As intended, what matters here is not the financial capital obtained, but the human capital these women brought with their contribution. This is not just a symbolic demostration of support: they have invested in LaNuestra and are, therefore, its cofounders.

Why this second round of funding?

This April we are launching the second phase of the project, with the goal of bringing together tens of thousands of co-founders. Along with the online archive compiled by Cristina Fallarás, our community is LaNuestra’s greatest asset.

Developing technology is expensive. There are two ways: to rely on a single super-rich man (as is often the case), or to build it collectively.

The latter sounds much better, doesn’t it?💜💪

The origin:

Between 2015 and 2025, several women’s movements emerged, driven by testimonies denouncing gender-based violence. This global collective action generated, for the first time in history, a vast archive of testimonies: #MeToo, #Cuéntalo, #NiUnaMenos, #BalanceTonPorc, #SeAcabó… These archives were created on platforms owned by tech oligarchs, primarily Twitter (now X) and, to a lesser extent, Meta. This testimonies are disappearing today, and it is now impossible to download them.

Today, it would be absolutely impossible to recreate a new archive of this kind, due to the immediate emergence of actors who undermine them (bots, sexist algorithms, trolls, etc.). To keep the testimonies from dissapearing, we managed to download thousands of them during the first two weeks of the #Cuéntalo movement, as well as 2,750,000 data points (all stored in the Fallarás archive).
Using this material — part of which has already been categorised — we aim to develop our feminist AI.

This data is a unique and irreplaceable resource. For the first time in history, women have been able to make their voices heard publicly, collectively, and at scale. We see it as our democratic responsibility to build, preserve and expand this living archive against totalitarianism and negationism. The collection and safeguarding of women testimonies is a powerful way to challenge denial and distortion of thruth.

Main features and goals of the crowdfunding campaign

We are building our own digital sovereignty in response to dependence on major US-based platforms controlled by tech oligarchs.

Today, digital infrastructure and power are concentrated in the hands of a small group of ultra-wealthy men. This concentration leads to frustration and a sense of powerlessness. Building our own infrastructure does the opposite: it generates hope, creates agency and mobilises.

LaNuestra challenges the control that social networks exert over public discourse by enabling a collective narrative as an alternative to abstract or top-down versions of reality, helping to democratise and diversify how reality is shaped and represented through technology and media.”
This possibility emerges from the use of digital tools to collectively gather and share lived experiences.
This way, LaNuestra shows that other ways of building technology, relating to one another, and taking action are not only possible, but already in progress.

Demonstrating our capacity for digital sovereignty makes us more hopeful and, in turn, more capable. It will happen, one way or another.

Let it be us.

Why this is important

The project was born from the realization that women need a space to share and make sense of the violence we experience beyond the traditional legal and police frameworks.

Since the emergence of the #MeToo movement in 2017, numerous hashtags brought together these stories and testimonies across social media. We believe the time has come to create a platform dedicated exclusively to this purpose. The main reason, among others, is that : when women speak out on social media, we are often afraid, attacked, or singled out.
We need a space that feels safe and close, where we can express ourselves among peers.

LaNuestra is a platform for all women:

  • Those who want to share the violence they have experienced or are currently experiencing;
  • those who are unsure whether what they have lived constitutes violence,
  • those who want to better understand their experiences,
  • those who want to connect with others,
  • and for those seeking information and resources to confront violence.

Beyond this, LaNuestra is a project of feminist digital sovereignty. It operates outside the logic of big tech platforms and builds on the power of the horizontal, collective, and mobilising digital activism that feminist movements have developed worldwide.

The digital community will be transnational and intersectional, growing as an interconnected network that brings together different countries and communities. Every context contains powerful testimony-driven movements. This community will also be serve other groups that need collective memory and network-building, such as vulnerable migrant communities, people living under authoritarian regimes, communities facing violent realities (torture, rights violations), housing movements, and land rights initiatives.

Team and experience

Thanks to our first crowdfunding campaign and the parallel work we have carried out, the driving force behind the project, ACCION COMADRES, has now been joined by a team of specialists in the fields of archiving, technology and communication.

This is the team currently in place:

ALMUDENA RODRÍGUEZ
I am an intersectional feminist with extensive experience in promoting gender justice, women’s rights and LGBTIQ+ rights. At LaNuestra, I foster strategic alliances and mobilise resources to ensure this project becomes a reality and is sustainable, putting my experience at the service of the fight against sexist and heteropatriarchal violence.
I engage in advocacy, a tool for challenging power and driving change, both locally and internationally.
Because ending heteropatriarchal violence is not just a slogan: it is a collective, urgent and deeply political endeavour.

EVA NAVARRO
At LaNuestra, I will lead the creation of Nuestra IA, our Artificial Intelligence. An alternative AI to extract information from the testimonies of thousands upon thousands of women around the world who have suffered some form of violence. With this information, I will create a complex network and algorithms to connect and build community. To heal. From pain, I will create beauty through mathematics and artificial intelligence.

PATRICIA LUJÁN
I created the visual identity and communication concept for LaNuestra. A simple universe, full of colour and hope, where dialogue, listening and sharing our experiences of gender-based violence are filled with love.
Because the only thing stronger than hate is LOVE.

THAIS RUIZ DE ALDA
I am a feminist technologist, working in the digital sector since 1999.
At LaNuestra, I will be working on the technical development of the platform and coordinating the teams needed to ensure our digital community is a unique, technologically sovereign and free digital space, where we can feel safe to talk about the things that, in most digital spaces, are censored, deleted or rendered invisible.
Let’s create a digital space for ourselves! LaNuestra will belong to all of us, or it won’t be at all.

JUDITH MEMBRIVES
Researcher, activist, philosopher, expert in digital rights, UX and digital participatory democracy, and a regular contributor to Digitalfems

FLORA BARBERÁ
Interface designer and young digital accessibility activist, she will help create an inclusive digital community.

JULIANA SOUZA
I am a political scientist and hold a PhD in Political Science, specialising in content analysis and feminist and intersectional methodologies.
At LaNuestra, I have led the creation of the Testimony Coding System: a unique Code Book, based on Spanish and regional legislation, validated by legal experts and tested in three rounds of validation with a team of coders. This system converts women’s stories into structured, interpretable and ethically managed data, ready to train a feminist artificial intelligence.
Because for AI to learn, we must first learn from those who have experienced violence. Because data is not born neutral: it is constructed with rigour, through listening and with a commitment not to betray the words of those who trust us.

ANDREA ALDANA
I am a Colombian journalist and my work has always been alongside people whose human rights have been violated; accompanying them, listening to them and working with their testimonies. My work led me to seek refuge in Spain.Today I remain dedicated to the stories of those who have endured violence, particularly women who are victims of gender-based violence.
For over two years, I have been working with Cristina Fallarás on collating and editing the testimonies gathered on her Instagram account. I am the editor of the book Don’t Publish My Name, the first printed compilation of these stories, and I am currently working on categorising the testimonies to analyse the information they contain. I am also part of the communications team at LaNuestra.
I believe in the power of testimonies to highlight violence, generate knowledge and transform reality.

CRISTINA FALLARÁS
For years I have been compiling testimonies from women about the gender-based violence we are experiencing or have experienced. My aim is to bring together different groups of professionals to turn these stories into something useful that allows us to live better lives. This includes women working in technology and digital fields, but also in the legal, therapeutic, healthcare sectors and various support services.
I firmly believe that we are living through one of the greatest revolutions in history and that the millions of women’s stories are radically transforming society. This is what I am working on now.
